Day 52/22 – to Baker, NV

So, I’m going back in time now and writing these posts from a few days later, so I’m forgetting a lot of the details of the ride.  But, since all of the days in Nevada have been the same, I’m guessing there’s not much to say about our rides.  We ride over a mountain, across […]

Day 51/21- to Milford, UT

Today is mail drop day! But first, the ride.  Easy.  58 miles to a small little town.  Pretty flat roads, a little bit of climbing and after about 1000 feet of ups, there is a sign that says Summit 7500 (or so) feet.  We found that hilarious because usually summit signs come at the end

Day 50/21 – to Cedar City, UT

Today was a short mileage day….  but a lot of elevation.  Okay, not so much elevation, but a lot considering that we are coming off of some very difficult days all in a row.  We’ve been through the desert, up and down mountains, and in the middle of nowhere, but it’s been great – really.

Day 49/20 to Panguitch, UT

94 freaking miles.  This is the sixth day in a row of riding and it feels like it.   Another day of nearly 6000 feet of elevation gains but so beautiful and so worth it. A few highs: We rode Hog’s Back right out of the gate. This is a road with a cliff on

Day 47/18 – to Cainesville!

We woke up in Hite Recreation Area this morning…. Probably the best night of sleep so far!  There’s not much to Hite, but I slept in my tent, under the stars and it was lovely.  A nice warm breeze through out the night made for some “baller” sleeping. The ride itself to Caineville was not

Day 14….. going home

This morning I am sad.  It’s my last morning with the team and I had to say goodbye to my TransAm family. This trip has been absolutely amazing.   The people I’ve been riding with are wonderful, kind and supportive.  We’ve had some really tough rides but we’ve helped each other through them.   Ernie told me

DOR 13

Day of ride 13…. perhaps the happiest/sad day of the trip. It’s my last day of riding for my first leg.  Only 50 miles so that means getting to camp early and hanging out with the family.  This is such a fantastic group of riders.  I know they will still be fabulous in CO but

DOR 12

Day of Riding 12 takes us to Booneville, KY.  It was another 70ish mile day, this time making it to a town with less people than my parents neighborhood in Texas.  Our accommodations for the evening:  essentially the backyard of a local church.   Really nice of them to welcome cyclists on our way through town,
